Cold saponification for quality soaps
We often advise our customers to choose a “cold saponified soap”. More qualitative and healthier for the epidermis, this manufacturing method preserves all the benefits of the ingredients.
Discover all the secrets of cold manufacturing and its benefits for your skin.
What is cold saponification?
A soap by cold saponification = Water + Oils + Soda
Cold Saponification (SAF) is an artisanal method carried out by a master soap maker according to his own recipes and with ingredients that are not heated to +40°.
This soap preparation at low temperature allows the properties and quality of the raw materials to be preserved as much as possible. It also helps preserve glycerin, a healthy and natural moisturizing agent.
To create this soap, the master soap maker mixes a fatty substance (vegetable oil, vegetable butter) with an alkali (soda). If the fatty substances are very numerous and in excess, we obtain a so-called “surgras” soap.
The surgras soap is very moisturizing and nourishing and leaves the skin soft and supple.
Cold saponification – Unique soaps with character
Soaps made by cold saponification are therefore handmade soaps according to original recipes, they also have the advantage of being very rich in vegetable glycerin to naturally moisturize the skin. We are therefore a long way from standardized industrial manufacturing processes. Each cold saponified soap is made "in the old fashioned way" with mixtures of ingredients that differ according to each master soap maker. This is where the know-how of each craftsman gives your soap its "character"!
How to choose the right cold process soap?
The ideal is to choose an organic artisanal soap made by cold saponification. You will thus have a pure product made from natural ingredients from Organic Farming: vegetable oils, herbs, clay, spices...
This gentle saponification method associated with high quality ingredients are assets of choice for the respect of nature and respect for your skin.
Also know that a serious master soap maker will not use industrial noodles* (= soap flakes), he will make all his soaps by hand from A to Z.
So it's up to you to choose your soap by first looking at who makes it and how they make it. Choose your master soap maker as much as your soap, take a few moments to read the presentation of his ethics and his working method, as well as the list of ingredients he uses. Always check that your soap does not contain preservatives, parabens or animal fats...
Cold saponification and pleasure of the senses
Choosing the right soap is a pleasure because when a soap is soft and smells good, it evokes moments of softness and relaxation. Each soap exudes scents that evoke emotions and stimulate our senses: fresh and gently scented, exotic, tangy, fruity, gently sweet notes... You can also opt for a fragrance-free soap, just for its infinite softness.
