Toning lotions and floral waters – what are they for?

You must have heard of floral water, tonic lotion or care mist, yet do you take the time to apply one?

No? It's probably because you don't fully know its virtues. These waters loaded with active ingredients are nuggets that will help you perfect your beauty routine.

Today we tell you all about this beauty gesture which is essential to have beautiful skin!

What is floral water or tonic lotion?

Floral waters or natural tonic lotions are cosmetic treatments full of beneficial active ingredients for the skin.

They are obtained by steam distillation of plants: leaves, flowers, bark, plants...

The active ingredients are introduced into a container of distilled water: the still. With a heat rising to 100°, the water turns into steam and allows the essential oils to be recovered. Once everything has cooled, the recovered water is loaded with active molecules. The essential oils are separated from the water and the potion becomes a floral water or a hydrolat.

The hydrosol is therefore a water very rich in active ingredients. It is gentler on the skin than an essential oil but retains the properties and benefits of plants.

It is perfectly suited to pregnant or breastfeeding women and is applied pure on the skin.

Tonic lotions and floral lotions – what are they for?

You probably think that applying a natural toning lotion is a superficial gesture with the only advantage of being pleasant and refreshing.

However, the organic vegan tonic lotion is essential for perfect make-up removal and cleansing of the skin, but is also essential for properly moisturizing the epidermis.

1/ An anti-limescale solution

Have you ever felt tingling, tightness or signs of dehydration after cleansing your skin? Yes, this is normal.

After cleaning and rinsing your skin with water, unfortunately a thin layer of limescale remains on the epidermis. This light veil then causes these unpleasant sensations and leaves the skin uncomfortable.

To counter this effect and free your skin from limescale, you must then apply floral water or a tonic lotion. It will not only remove the last impurities, but also rinse away traces of limescale.

You can apply it on a washable cotton pad or directly by spraying the hydrosol on your skin. You will feel relief immediately!

2/ The basis of hydration

In addition to its anti-limestone action, the use of a tonic mist is essential to properly moisturize your skin.

Would you consider putting washing up liquid on a dry sponge? No, because the product will not penetrate properly. Just like the sponge, the skin needs to be hydrated with floral water to be able to receive the moisturizing care you are going to give it.

The application of floral water will soak the skin in water and active ingredients and make it permeable. Your skin is therefore ready to absorb all the active ingredients in your serum. The must ? Apply your serum to damp skin.

Which hydrosol to choose according to your skin type?
