Zero waste bathroom: Our tips

With the start of the school year, have you made the decision to switch to a 100% zero waste bathroom? You have discovered a multitude of products but do not know where to start? Here are all our tips and advice for replacing your conventional products with eco-responsible cosmetics 😉

1/ Zero waste for cleaning your face

We usually use liquid products to remove makeup and cleanse the face. However, there are excellent solid and zero waste cosmetics that are great alternatives to plastic bottles!

To remove makeup, choose a solid oil or a solid fatty butter such as Nüe cleansing oil from Pachamamaï or Lamazuna cocoa body butter.

The greasy substances in these cosmetics will stick to make-up and remove it from your skin.

Finally, to cleanse your face and perfect make-up removal, choose a bar of soap that meets your skin problem 🥰.

2/ Replace your cotton pads with zero-waste solutions

Over time and generations, conventional cotton has established itself in our bathrooms and has become an essential that we can no longer do without.

Fortunately, there are zero waste and eco-friendly alternatives that will not only benefit the planet but also your wallet!

Indeed, you can now opt for washable cotton pads to complete your make-up removal. Ultra-practical, cotton withstands around 300 washes! It is more cost effective than standard cotton and more environmentally friendly. If you want to know more, I invite you to read this article 😉.

You can also choose to replace your cotton with a glove to finish your make-up removal 🥰

3/ Zero waste body and face care

Yes yes, it is quite possible to choose zero waste facial care. Once again, it is the solid formats that save the day since they make it possible to eliminate the plastic packaging.

There are solid butters and balms that moisturize and nourish the skin. You can even find repairing serums to regenerate the epidermis at night, such as Nyx by Pachamamaï or the regenerating balm by Savon Stories.

4/ Zero waste in the shower

In the shower, too, you can swap plastic bottles for healthier and more eco-friendly alternatives.

To wash your body, choose a natural, organic and biodegradable bar of soap. The brands Savon stories, Coutiver and Dr Bronner offer beautiful alternatives that gently cleanse the skin.

To wash your hair, choose a solid shampoo. Solid shampoos are very clever formats because they represent around two bottles of classic shampoos. In addition to being economical, this format allows you to completely eliminate plastic from the shower.

You will find what you are looking for at Pachamamaï, Savon Stories and Lamazuna.

5/ Brushing your teeth in an ecological way

You can also optimize your ecological impact by brushing your teeth. The first step is to opt for a non-polluting toothbrush. For this there are toothbrushes made of bamboo or recycled plastic whose head can be recharged. These solutions prevent plastic discharge into the ocean.

To complete your dental routine, choose a solid toothpaste. These small pebbles are to be stored in small boxes.Just like a solid shampoo, they last longer than classic toothpaste tubes

Finally, remember to turn off the tap water while brushing. The best is still to use a glass of water to rinse your mouth 😉

6/ Intimate products & zero waste

And the ears? How to take care of it without cotton swabs? You can choose bamboo cotton swabs which are 100% biodegradable. If you want a more sustainable solution, the Lamazuna oriculi or "ear pick" is THE zero waste solution for you! It is a very small wooden handle that collects excess earwax or dirt that stagnates outside the ear canal.

And what about women's intimate hygiene? Do not panic, there are also washable pads or washable panty liners that accompany you throughout your cycle. For those who can't stand towels, opt for the cup! A perfect solution that replaces sanitary tampons!

7/ Think about refillable formats

Many zero waste brands offer refillable formats for their cosmetics. Generally you have to buy the product with its box the first time and then only buy the refill. It will then slip into the box you already have.

Very clever, this format is also economical since you only pay the price of the packaging once!

You now have all our tips for optimizing your zero-waste bathroom! And you, what are your tips and essentials?
